Child Health Nursing is an important specialty in Nursing Science that focuses on
promoting health, preventing illness, and providing comprehensive care to infants,
children, and adolescents. It is a key component of the B.Sc. Nursing curriculum,
addressing the physical, emotional, psychological, and developmental needs of
children.
At CON KMC, the Department of Child Health Nursing prepares students to deliver
safe, evidence-based, and family-centered care. The department emphasizes pediatric
disease management, immunization, nutrition, growth and development, and care of
critically ill children. Teaching methods include case studies, seminars, simulations,
demonstrations, and hands-on clinical training.
Students gain practical experience through postings in pediatric wards, NICU, PICU,
immunization clinics, and community child health programs. The department is
committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service, shaping compassionate and
competent pediatric nursing professionals.
